Bolly suffer defeat to champions elect Widnes
Bollington 1st XI suffered a 7 wicket home defeat to champions elect Widnes on Saturday. After losing the toss and being inserted on a slow damp wicket the home side could muster only 120 all out. Mo Ali with 36 and Calum Rowe with 27 were the only scorers of any note as Danny Moore 5-59 and Tony Hurdley 3-35 exploited the conditions perfectly. Widnes are predominantly a batting side and such a low total was never going to be enough especially as openeres Danny Naughton and Hurdley put on 68 for the first wicket before Naughton fell to Stuart Plant for 24. Tom Horsfield then bowled a tidy little spell to gain Bolly an extra bowling point picking up 2-7 as Widnes cruised home in the 32nd over at 123 for 3. Bolly will look to get back on track when they travel to bottom side Irby next week
